Dry Fruits & Nuts
Dry fruits and nuts are high-value products where grade, moisture and packing decide quality on arrival. India is one of the world's largest processors of cashew kernels, and Indian raisins are produced mainly around Sangli and Nashik in Maharashtra.
How dry fruits are graded
- Cashew kernels — by whole-kernel count per pound, for example W180, W240 and W320, plus splits and pieces
- Raisins — by colour, size and moisture
- Almonds, walnuts and pistachios — by variety, size and kernel quality
- Dates and figs — by variety, size and moisture
Packing
Nuts are commonly vacuum- or nitrogen-flushed in tins or pouches packed in cartons, which protects them from moisture and insects. Retail and private-label packing can be discussed.
What to specify when you enquire
- Product, grade and crop year
- Moisture and quality limits
- Packing and quantity
- Destination port and shipping terms
