Non-Basmati Rice we supply

5 products

Non-basmati rice covers the many long- and medium-grain varieties that are not basmati. It is bought in raw (white) or parboiled form and by broken percentage.

Common Indian varieties

  • IR 64 — long grain, widely traded raw and parboiled
  • PR 11 and PR 14 — long-grain varieties from Punjab
  • Parmal — medium-long grain for everyday cooking
  • Broken rice — fragments separated during milling, used for rice flour, snacks, brewing and feed

Grades

Non-basmati rice is commonly sold as 5%, 15%, 25% or 100% broken, with limits for moisture, chalky, damaged and discoloured grains. Sortexed rice has discoloured grains removed optically.

Export policy

India's export rules for some non-basmati and broken rice have changed several times in recent years. The DGFT policy in force is checked before a contract is confirmed.

Non-Basmati Rice: frequently asked questions

What does 5% broken mean?

Up to 5% of the rice, by weight, may be broken grains. Lower broken percentages cost more; the limit is fixed in the contract specification.

What is parboiled rice?

Paddy that is soaked, steamed and dried before milling. Parboiling hardens the grain, reduces breakage and retains more nutrients; the cooked rice is firm and separate.

Can non-basmati rice currently be exported from India?

The rules change from time to time and differ by rice type, so the current DGFT policy for the specific rice is checked before any order is confirmed. Ask for an update with your enquiry.

Can I get a sample before ordering?

Yes — ask for a sample with your enquiry. Availability, sample quantity and courier charges are confirmed for each product.
