White onion granules are made by slicing, drying and grading fresh onions into a free-flowing, coarse-ground form between minced and powder. Granules mix evenly in dry blends and do not cake as readily as powder.
White onion has a light colour and a mild, slightly sweet flavour, so it suits products where colour matters — white sauces, creamy soups, dressings and seasonings.
