Caustic soda (sodium hydroxide, NaOH) is a strong alkali produced by the chlor-alkali process and supplied as flakes, prills or lye. Flakes are the easiest form to store and dose. Key specifications are assay (NaOH content), sodium carbonate, sodium chloride and iron.
