Pearl millet (bajra) is the most widely grown millet in India, cultivated mainly in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. India is the world's largest producer of pearl millet.
The small grey-green grains are rich in fibre, iron and protein and are naturally gluten-free. They are milled into flour for flatbreads and porridge, used in health foods and multigrain mixes, and fed to poultry and birds.
